Serum paracetamol concentrations in adult volunteers following rectal administration.
Paracetamol is usually given in adults at a dose of 10-20 mg kg(-1) orally or rectally. Work in children suggests that doses of 40 mg kg(-1) are needed to provide therapeutic concentrations when this drug is used by the rectal route. We have investigated the dose of rectal paracetamol needed to achieve serum concentrations within the accepted therapeutic range of 10-20 microg ml(-1) in adults. ...
متن کاملSerum and sputum concentrations following the oral administration of linezolid in adult patients with cystic fibrosis.
OBJECTIVES Linezolid is a new oxazolidinone antibiotic with efficacy against a broad range of Gram-positive bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). In this study, we have determined the serum and sputum linezolid concentrations in adults with cystic fibrosis (CF) following oral drug administration. METHODS Eleven adult patients with CF were recruited. Subjects ...
متن کاملPotential benefit of paracetamol administration in adult-onset Still's disease.
Still's disease is a rare, systemic inflammatory disease of unknown etiology, characterized by daily high fever, transient rash, arthritis, and organ involvement including lymphadenopathy, hepatosplenomegaly, pleuritis or pericarditis. The diagnosis of the disease is based on clinical signs and symptoms, and requires exclusion of infectious, neoplastic, and other autoimmune diseases. Treatment ...
متن کاملParacetamol serum concentrations in preterm infants treated with paracetamol intravenously: a case series
INTRODUCTION Until now, studies on paracetamol given intravenously have mainly been performed with the pro-drug propacetamol or with paracetamol in preterm babies above 32 weeks of gestation. Studies in these babies indicate that intravenous paracetamol is tolerated well, however studies on the efficacy of intravenous paracetamol are lacking. There are no pharmacokinetic data on the administrat...
متن کاملPlasma concentrations of clonazepam after single rectal administration.
Clonazepam was administered rectally to six children aged 1.4 to 4.7 years in a dose of 0.05 mg/kg and to five children aged 1.4 to 4.1 years in a dose of 0.1 mg/kg. Plasma concentrations indicate that it is rapidly absorbed, and it may therefore be an alternative to rectal administration of diazepam in continuing convulsions.
